Clyde J. Robinson

Clyde J. Robinson, city attorney for Kalamazoo, has spent his entire legal career practicing municipal law. Mr. Robinson worked for the city of Battle Creek from 1980 to 2008, first as an assistant city attorney, concentrating on ordinance prosecution, then as deputy city attorney, as lead counsel for civil litigation responsibilities in state and federal trial and appellate courts, and was appointed as Battle Creek's city attorney in 1999. In 2008 he accepted the appointment as Kalamazoo's city attorney. Mr. Robinson is a member of the Michigan Association of Municipal Attorneys, serving on its board of directors from 2002 to 2022 and as its president from 2015 to 2017. He is a past president (1988-1989) of the Calhoun County Bar Association, a former chair (2003-2004) of the Public Corporation Law Section (now the Government Law Section) of the State Bar of Michigan, and a past two-term member (1992-1998) of the State Bar Representative Assembly. Mr. Robinson served for 20 years on the advisory committee for the Kellogg Community College Legal Assistant Program and served a term on the initial Western Michigan University College of Arts and Sciences Dean's Advisory Committee. In 2019 he received the Outstanding Service Award from the Michigan Municipal League.
