Brian A. Pappas

Brian A. Pappas, adjunct professor of law and associate director of the law school's Alternative Dispute Resolution Program, is a civil and domestic relations mediator trained and experienced in both facilitative and transformative methods. An expert on mediation ethics and confidentiality, he serves on the Michigan Supreme Court's Mediation Confidentiality Committee. In 2007 Mr. Pappas authored a study of the proposed Uniform Mediation Act on behalf of the State Bar of Michigan's ADR Section. He is also a member of the section's Higher Education Action Team and served as cochairperson of the Washtenaw County Bar Association's ADR Section in 2009-2010. At MSU, Mr. Pappas teaches mediation courses, directs the competition teams, and oversees the ADR events calendar. He has presented dispute resolution topics at numerous conferences, and his writings on dispute resolution have been published in local and state journals. Mr. Pappas is pursuing his Ph.D. in public administration from the University of Kansas. He also holds a J.D. from Wayne State University, an LL.M. degree in dispute resolution from the University of Missouri-Columbia, and a master's degree of public policy from the University of Michigan.
