Shereef H. Akeel focuses his practice in employment law, civil rights, and personal injury. He has been involved in several high-profile discrimination cases, including a 2014 $1.2 million verdict in Eastern District of Michigan Federal Court against Washtenaw County for religious discrimination, and $340,000 judgment against SMART in Oakland County for employment discrimination. Mr. Akeel has also pursued international human right cases, including the filing of a suit on behalf of Iraqis who were tortured in the infamous Abu Ghraib prison. He was named a Lawyer of the Year by "Michigan Lawyers Weekly" in 2004 and a Michigan Super Lawyer by "Law and Politics Magazine" for 2006-2014. He has been a speaker for the State Bar of Michigan, ICLE, and the Michigan Association for Justice. Also a CPA, he obtained his MBA from Wayne State University in 1992.
