Meri Anne Stowe concentrates her practice on matrimonial and family law. She was admitted as an attorney and counselor of the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit in 1984 and of the Supreme Court of the United States of America in 1985. Ms. Stowe served as the 2001-2002 chair of the State Bar of Michigan Family Law Section, having previously held offices on the Section’s Executive Committee. Ms. Stowe was appointed by former Chief Justice Maura D. Corrigan as a delegate to the State Bar’s Family Division Rules Project. Ms. Stowe also served on the State Bar of Michigan 21st Century Courts Committee and the Michigan Supreme Court Access to Court Records Committee. She was a member of the Michigan Supreme Court Work Group that made recommendations to the court regarding confidentiality of court records involving children. Ms. Stowe is a member of the ICLE Family Law Advisory Board, an initial and continuing member of the Family Court Forum Committee, and a Life Fellow of the Michigan State Bar Foundation. In January 2017 she was elected to the council and appointed to the Executive Committee of the State Bar of Michigan's LGBTQA Section. She has published articles and commentary in “Michigan Family Law Journal” and the Ingham County “Briefs,” and is a member of Scribes, the American Society of Writers on Legal Subjects. Ms. Stowe lectures frequently on topics of interest to family law practitioners.
