Mona K. Majzoub was appointed to the bench of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan as a magistrate judge in 2004. Since her appointment to the federal bench, she has been voted a member of the board of directors of the Federal Bar Association, Eastern District of Michigan Chapter. After receiving her law degree from the University of Detroit in 1976, Judge Majzoub began her legal career in Detroit with a law firm that was then primarily engaged in the defense of professional liability matters, representing mostly health care organizations, physicians, and corporate institutions. Her legal practice encompassed multiple practice areas including professional negligence, hospital liability, product liability, employment, insurance, and personal injury. Judge Majzoub also participated for many years as a case evaluator for the Wayne County Mediation Tribunal. Prior to her judicial appointment, she was active in numerous professional and community organizations, including the American-Arab Anti Discrimination Committee, Michigan chapter (founding board member); the Arab American Bar Association (past president); and Family Services of Detroit and Wayne County (member of the board of directors). In addition, she has had memberships in multiple local and national bar associations and was selected as a fellow of the Michigan State Bar Foundation. Since 2007 Judge Majzoub has served as a Master of the Bench with the American Inn of Court in association with University of Detroit Mercy School of Law.
