Peter J. Kok chairs the firm's Employment and Labor Section. He advises clients on employment matters including affirmative action, employment discrimination, occupational safety and health, wage and hour law, worker's compensation, and workplace harassment. Additionally, a significant part of Mr. Kok's practice revolves around collective bargaining, and union-management relations. He serves as general counsel for several trade groups, including Associated Builders and Contractors - Western Michigan Chapter and The Employers' Association of Grand Rapids. Mr. Kok is a member of the Grand Rapids Bar Association, the State Bar of Michigan, and the American Bar Association, where he serves on the Labor and Employment Law Section's State and Local Government Bargaining and Employment Law Committee. A fellow of the Michigan State Bar Foundation, he is listed in "The Best Lawyers in America" and has been named a "Michigan Super Lawyer." Mr. Kok is the author of numerous articles in legal and trade publications and a frequent speaker on civil rights and employment relations topics before management organizations throughout Michigan and the Midwest.
