Before retiring, Ronald M. Bookholder practiced in the areas of family law and estate planning. He is a certified fellow of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers (AAML), a former member of its national board of governors, and a past president of its Michigan chapter. He is a member of the State Bar of Arizona and the State Bar of Michigan and its Family Law Section, where he has served as section chairperson, chairperson of the Alternative Dispute Resolution Committee, and section liaison to ICLE. The section awarded him the Lifetime Achievement Award in 2009, one of just nine people to have received this honor. A lifetime fellow of the Michigan State Bar Foundation, he is a fellow of the Oakland County Bar Association and former chair of its Family Law Committee. Mr. Bookholder has also served as president of the Michigan Inter-professional Association, panel member for the Michigan Attorney Discipline Board, and board member of the Michigan Council for Family and Divorce Mediation. He has lectured frequently for ICLE, AAML, ABA, and local bar associations and has authored articles in "Michigan Family Law Journal" and "Michigan Bar Journal." Mr. Bookholder coauthored the 2001 Michigan domestic relations arbitration legislation. A contributing author to ICLE's "Michigan Family Law" (5th-7th eds), he was a coplanner of and lecturer for the Family Law Certificate Program, cosponsored by ICLE and the Family Law Section of the State Bar of Michigan.
