How to Use a How-To Kit

What’s Included

How-To Kits are step-by-step guides to basic transactions. They are available only online and not in printed form.

Using the "Current to" Date and "What's New"

The Current to date on each How-To Kit reflects its currency. ICLE monitors changes in the existing law on an ongoing basis and adds any changes to the online resources within two weeks of their occurrence. If a major new development requires significant revision of a How-To Kit that will require more than two weeks to implement, that fact will be flagged in the text and the summary of changes.

If a How-To Kit has had changes in the last 12 months, a WHAT’S NEW link will appear at the top of the Kit. Click WHAT’S NEW to see a summary of the changes.

Search and Browse

To search for a Kit on your topic, enter the search terms you are looking for in the search box. If you are searching for a phrase, put the phrase in quotation marks.

If you don't find the Kit you are looking for using particular search terms, first check to make sure you typed the terms correctly and then try using a synonym. See Search Tips for more advice on how to get good search results.

You can also browse (see a list of) How-To Kits by practice area and topic:
