Norman Otto Stockmeyer

Norman Otto Stockmeyer joined the Cooley Law School faculty in 1977 following 12 years as a commissioner and director of research for the Michigan Court of Appeals. A three-time recipient of the school's Stanley E. Beattie Teaching Award, Professor Stockmeyer was named National Outstanding Professor in 1985 by Delta Theta Phi Law Fraternity. He is the author of articles in a wide variety of professional journals and is a past president of SCRIBES, The American Society of Legal Writers. He is a life fellow of the Michigan State and American Bar Foundations and was named Professional of the Year by the Michigan Association of the Professions. Professor Stockmeyer has lectured for the Michigan Judicial Institute and has made numerous CLE presentations. In 1988, the "Lansing State Journal" recognized him as one of mid-Michigan's "88 Greats" for his service to the community and the legal profession. "Michigan Lawyers Weekly" profiled Professor Stockmeyer as a part of its "Leaders of the Law" series in 2005. He retired from teaching in 2014.
