Online Book Policies

  1. What are the online books?
The online books are online versions of the same content included in the printed version of the book. However, they are searchable online, updated continually and linked to the full text of Michigan primary law resources. Those resources include Michigan published caselaw since 1942, Michigan statutes, and Michigan Court Rules.
  2. How long do subscriptions to an online book last?
One year. Your subscription starts the day you sign up and runs for 12 months. Several months before the year is up, we will send you a renewal notice.
  3. How much do online books cost per year?
Prices vary by book and by the number of attorneys in your firm. Subscriptions are sold on a "small firm" and "larger firm" basis. Small firms are those with 0 to 4 attorneys, and larger firms are those with 5 or more attorneys. See the ICLE store for complete pricing for each title.
  4. What discounts apply to subscriptions to the online books?
ICLE Partners receive a 10% discount on the full price of first-year subscriptions to online books. Subsequent-year subscriptions are discounted 10% if the subscriber renews before the deadline stated on the renewal notice. If a subscription lapses and is then reinstated, the subscriber must pay the new buyers' price. Discounts may not be combined, so the maximum discount is 10%.
  5. Do we need to pay for the entire subscription year when we sign up?
Yes. You must pay for the entire year's subscription when you sign up for online access. The annual subscription fee is nonrefundable.
  6. How do we know which firm size category we fit in?
Include all attorneys associated with the law firm, including employees and contract attorneys who spend a significant amount of time on the firm's clients' matters or will have access to the firm's computer resources. You must also count law school graduates who will take or have taken the Michigan Bar exam, but not law students or summer associates.
  7. Do I need to be a lawyer to purchase an online book?
No, you do not need to be a lawyer to purchase an online book.
  8. We are an association or library other than a law firm library. Can we purchase an online book subscription for use by our members or patrons?
No, subscriptions to the online books are for the individual purchaser's use or for use within a law firm.
  9. What terms of use govern my usage of the online books?
Permitted usage of the online books is governed by the Subscription Agreement.
  10. Can I cancel at any time?
You can cancel at any time, but the annual subscription fee is nonrefundable.
