Q. What is this product?
A. EPIC
SCAO Forms for Probate Court, Using HotDocs, automates the preparation
of probate court forms. You enter client information once and HotDocs quickly
guides you through the forms. You can save your answers in an answer file and
reuse them in multiple forms, saving hours of typing time. The assembled forms
are in Corel WordPerfect and Microsoft Word format, so they are fully editable
in those programs.
Contents:
- 112 SCAO forms
- Forms in Microsoft Word (97/2000/2002/2003/2007) and Corel WordPerfect
(8/9/10/11/12/X3)
- Includes estate administration forms and guardianship/conservatorship
forms
- Comes with the HotDocs Player software
Q.
What is HotDocs?
A. HotDocs is a document automation software program. The EPIC
SCAO Forms for Probate Court was
created using HotDocs, and a limited version of HotDocs, called the HotDocs Player,
is included on the CD to enable users to assemble the forms.
Q. Who makes HotDocs?
A. Matthew Bender & Co., Inc., a division of the LexisNexis Group, develops and sells HotDocs. See the HotDocs Web site for more information.
Q. Which word processors work with
HotDocs?
A. The EPIC SCAO Forms are designed to be used with Corel WordPerfect, versions
8/9/10/11/12/X3, and Microsoft Word, versions 97/2000/2002/2003/2007.
Q. Can I edit the EPIC SCAO forms for HotDocs in my word processor?
A. Yes. You can edit the assembled form in your word processor just like any other word processing file.
Q. Does the EPIC SCAO Forms product
work with Microsoft Works?
A. No. Microsoft Works does not have a macro language. HotDocs requires a macro
language in order to work with a word processor.
Q. How is the EPIC SCAO Forms for
Probate Court different from the EPIC SCAO forms in PDF format in the Partnership area of the
ICLE Web site?
A. The SCAO forms on the ICLE Web site
are PDF files that cannot be edited in a word processor. While they can
be filled out on screen, the free forms on our Web site are not automated,
blanks and checkboxes must be filled individually, and your answers are
not saved in a master file for use in other forms.
Q. Will these forms work if I have
a Macintosh system?
A. No.
Q. What features make this a "superior" forms-on-disk
product?
A. The new forms are easier to use. With the HotDocs automation powering each
form template, you enter client information once and the program guides you
through the assembly of each form. The answers you enter are saved for use
in other forms, saving you hours of typing time. The forms are designed to
look like the original forms, with similar fonts and text spacing. Once assembled,
the forms are fully editable in your word processor, so you can edit the text
and adjust fonts, tabs, and margins if necessary.
Q. How current are the forms?
A. To the best of our knowledge, the updated set is current as of January 1, 2008.
If you find a form in the set that has been modified, please forward the
form to ICLE so that we may include the updated form in subsequent releases.
Q. Why do I get a message when I click
on the Create or Edit buttons in the HotDocs Library?
A. Nothing is wrong with your program; ICLE HotDocs form products use a limited
version of HotDocs, called the HotDocs Player, which means that you can fill
forms that have been created but you cannot develop your own forms. The Create
and Edit buttons are buttons used by the full version of HotDocs to develop
forms and therefore will only "work" if you have a full version of HotDocs.
Q. Do I need a laser printer?
A. We recommend using a laser printer to print these forms. We do not recommend
using inkjet printers, which may not print the entire page. The page margins
for these forms were set to display the complete text on the page and to
match the layout as closely as possible to the SCAO original forms. Some
inkjet printers require a wider margin than that specified in the page design;
as a result, the bottom line on the page, usually the Form number and title,
may not appear on the printout. If you use an inkjet printer, you may be
able to print the form completely if you adjust the margins and line spacing
to make the text fit. If you don't know whether the forms will print correctly
on your system, you can download a sample form to
retrieve into your word processor and print.
Q. What training do I need to use
these forms?
A. None, anyone with a very basic knowledge of Windows can use these forms.
Q. What versions of Windows will I
need to run this program?
A. The forms will run under Windows versions 2000 SP4, XP, and Vista.
Q. How do these forms differ from ICLE's
other forms-on-disk products?
A. Instead of editing the forms as you would a regular text file, the SCAO Forms
Using HotDocs employ an automation program that does the formatting and spacing
for you based on answers you provide to questions that appear on the screen.
The EPIC SCAO Forms for Probate
Court are designed for use in both WordPerfect and Microsoft Word.
Q. How much hard disk space will the
program take up?
A. The EPIC SCAO Forms set and HotDocs Player program will take up about 20
Mb of space.
Q. Can I return the CD for a refund?
A. No, unless the disk is defective or the package is unopened. This is the
ICLE policy for all of our disk products.
Q. How do I get technical support for
this product?
A. You can leave a message with your questions via e-mail
to ICLE, or you can fax your questions to ICLE at (877) 229-4351 (toll-free
number). Telephone technical support is also available from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00
p.m., Monday through Friday. Call ICLE toll-free at (877) 229-4350.
