John Freeman has exclusively practiced criminal law since graduating from law school more than 20 years ago. He served as a state prosecutor with the Manhattan District Attorney's Office for seven years before becoming an Assistant U.S. Attorney in Detroit where he served for another seven years. As a prosecutor, Mr. Freeman handled a variety of state and federal crimes, including firearms offenses and homicide. Since forming his own firm in 2007, Mr. Freeman has represented clients of all kinds, including companies and members of federal, state, and local law enforcement, in all types of criminal matters in Michigan and elsewhere, ranging from misdemeanors to complex white-collar fraud, including capital offenses such as murder. He is also a member of ICLE's Criminal Law Advisory Board. Mr. Freeman is certified by the National Rifle Association (NRA) as a range-safety officer and an instructor for the NRA's course on personal protection in the home. He also regularly lectures to concealed pistol license holders on the law of self-defense.
